We offer our Comprehensive
Abstinence Presentations (C.A.P.) to nearly 5,000 students
each year in both Bradley and Polk counties. Through C.A.P.
teens are encouraged to reach for a higher standard of
behavior by defining their moral values, increase their
self-respect, develop a positive view of marriage and
family, and to develop a vision and plan for their future.
Our Comprehensive Abstinence Program is offered to students
in grades 6-12 in 14 area schools. The C.A.P. program is
science based, medically accurate, and age appropriate. The
program is 4 days in middle school and 5 days in high
school. Topics covered include:
Healthy Families
Identifying Healthy Relationships
Recognizing Abuse
Boundary Setting
Contraception
STD/STI Transmission and Prevention
Media Influences
The Effects of Pornography
Our C.A.P implementation model is based on a study
done by Dr. Douglas Kirby on the Characteristics of Programs
That Can Delay The Initiation of Sex. How we interact with
students in the classroom has been modeled after what this
research says is effective. Because of this we are
deliberate in our use of activities, the selection of visual
aids, and the selection of our presentation materials. We
are intentional to update our medical information regularly
from sources such as the Center of Disease Control, the
Medical Institute for Sexual Healthy, and the National
Institute of Health. Also, we have been careful to choose
curriculums that have been reviewed and approved by the
Department of Health and Human Services. The curriculums
that we have drawn from to develop our C.A.P program are:
On Point Public School Curriculum
Worth the Wait Sex Education Curriculum
In addition to our School based curriculum we also
offer presentations for churches and community groups. We
have programs for parents and for professionals who work
with youth. If you would like for one of our professional
speakers to come to your school, church, or organization
